Previously, the museum was an old jail (1801 – 1901). The Jail was demolished, leaving only the main entrance gate.
This was expanded and converted into a cultural and bio-museum 1983.
Inside the bio-museum, you will find displays of fauna and flora that are found in the area, while the cultural museum mainly displays artefacts of the surrounding area. Many of these artefacts have been recovered from inside the reserve. The museum is located on the Vryburg / Kuruman road (N14), approximately 1 km out of town.
